CHARLESTON, SC (WCSC)- Charleston police arrested a 32-year-old man early Friday morning after he was spotted at a club dancing on stage while waiving a gun in the air, according to authorities.
Tyric J. Becoate has been charged with unlawful carrying of a handgun, possession of a firearm by a convicted violent felon, possession with intent to distribute marijuana and possession with intent to distribute ecstasy.
According to an incident report, officers were called to Plan B located at 2035 Ashley Town Center Dr. around 1:40 a.m. after security staff and club patrons saw a man dancing on a stage at the club with a pistol in his hand.
When club security went to investigate, they say Becoate lifted his arms, revealing a 9MM handgun tucked in the rear of his waistband.
Police say Becoate did not have a concealed weapons permit.
The report states a search of Becoate uncovered a bag of marijuana, a bag of multicolored pills in the shape of skulls and cartoon characters, and six paper sleeves of a white powdered substance. He also had four cell phones and a notebook full of names and monetary values.
Police say Becoate confessed the pills were ecstasy and he was selling them for $20 each. The white powder also tested positive for ecstasy.
Officials say Becoate was previously charged with trafficking cocaine in June 2009, making him a convicted felon.
He was arrested and taken to the Charleston County Detention Center.
